Repurposing a Common Tool

On April 5th Google announced My Maps, “a new feature that makes it quick and easy to create custom Google Maps just by pointing and clicking. [Users] can add placemarks, draw lines and shapes, and embed text, photos and videos — all using a simple drag and drop interface.

Using this product in conjunction with mind mapping tools like BrainMine , Free Mind, and Inspiration, to name a few, could help students bridge their web networking skills with history, sociology, and geography assignments. My Maps automatically gets a public URL that students can share with team members and instructors, or they can also be published to web pages, wikis blogs, and learning management systems
