Random Thoughts on Instructional Design

Innovation Spaces of the 21st Century

I attended this session in hopes of gaining insight into what other institutions have done with the creation of innovative learning spaces so as to bring back some ideas and resources for the new sciences building. Unfortunately, this session did not meet my goals. It did provide a number of resources that may be valuable to read and/or review in the near future. Those resources include:

  • The Creating Brain by Nancy Andreasen
  • How People Learn by John D. Bransford, Ann L. Brown, and Rodney R. Cocking
  • Image and Logic by Peter Galison
  • Karl Weick and Robert Quinn on Organizational Change and Development

One thing that was mentioned by a participant in the Duke Link project was the need for immediate and repeat assessment of the innovative space to determine if it is meeting the needs and vision of the audience.
