What is the ideal school system?

How can we measure what makes a school system work? In the following TED video Andreas Schleicher walks us through the PISA test, a global measurement that ranks countries against one another — then uses that same data to help schools improve.

Another consideration is that the current educational model is very different than life. In general:

  • Schools are based on conformity whereas people  are diverse in nature
  • Current educational systems expect compliance from creative and innovative students
  • Humans and the environment are organic whereas most formal education in linear in nature

What do you think would make a great school system?
